Christmas is just around the corner. Is your shopping completed or haven't you started yet? It will soon be time to put the tree up and all the decortaions, well that's if you're into doing that. People our age seem to like less work but there are those that truly enjoy having a festive home. Whatever your choice is, enjoy the holidays however you celebrate them.

Can you recall your mother or grandmother wearing one of these? I know my mom always wore one when she was working in the kitchen. Don't know if women today wear this type. . but it would serve it's purpose in protection of the clothes.

HIGHER POWER
A Sunday school teacher said to her children, 'We have been learning how powerful kings and queens were in Bible times. But, there is a Higher Power. Can anybody tell me what it is?' One child blurted out, 'Aces!'
.

I know the Rosebud doesn't look anything like the 'Old Green Mill' did in these pictures. It's been remodeled many times over the years. The building is still in great shape with rentals on the upper two floors. This corner building is a fixture in downtown GH.

Bill and his wife Blanche went to the state fair every year,
And every year Bill would say, " Blanche, I'd like to ride in that helicopter "
Blanche always replied, " I know, Bill, but that helicopter ride is fifty bucks,
and fifty bucks is fifty bucks! "One year Bill and Blanche went to the fair, and Bill said, " Blanche, I'm 75 years old. If I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance "To this, Blanche replied,
" Bill that helicopter ride is fifty bucks, and fifty bucks is fifty bucks "
The pilot overheard the couple and said,
" Folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and don't say a word I won't charge you a penny!
But if you say one word it's fifty dollars. "Bill and Blanche agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard.
He did his daredevil tricks, but still not a word... When they landed, the pilot turned to Bill and said, "By golly , I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't. I'm impressed! " Bill replied,
"Well, to tell you the truth I almost said something when Blanche fell out, but you know, Fifty bucks is fifty bucks!

A November day in Grand Haven! High winds produce large waves.

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible - Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the
chapter. Little Rick was excited about the task - but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation,
Ricky was so nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know."
I really enjoy when I'm able to catch a Lions game on a national TV station. I enjoyed watching them defeat Denver recently, that was a good Sunday afternoon for me, but they let me down a few weeks later when the Chicago Bears made them look like an elementary team. They have certainly improved and are exciting to watch. ☺ Michigan State has done superb and the new coach at Michigan has them heading in the right direction. At least their record is much better than last year!
Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good things, but I don't get to see him enough to get as smart as him!

Start each day with a smile...then pass it on!

Chuck Arnold getting the meal ready and Don, well, I think he's checking the progress.

This flies freely over almost every building that comes into your view and then you can travel through a local street in your town and see the beauty of this flying on your neighborhood homes. It represents the freedom we enjoy thanks to our armed service men and women.

Not having a lot of things to do down here in Texas, for the fun of it one day I counted the number of ladies birthdays I have for a calendar year.
The total: 18.
I know it's not polite to ask a lady her age but keeping it a secret this long, you are nearly 78.
COME on GIRLS, WON'T YOU PLEASE SUBMIT your date.

Must have been something funny! Ron, Chuck, Dick and Joe.
Aah, the GoldenYears!
SPECIAL POEM FOR OLDER FOLKS
A row of bottles on my shelf caused me to analyze myself.
One yellow pill I have to pop goes to my heart so it won't stop.
A little white one that I take goes to my hands so they won't shake.
The blue ones that I use a lot tell me I'm happy when I'm not.
The purple pill goes to my brain and tells me that I have no pain.
The capsules tell me not to wheeze or cough or choke or even sneeze..
The red ones, smallest of them all go to my blood so I won't fall.
The orange ones, very big and bright prevent my leg cramps in the night.
Such an array of brilliant pills helping to cure all kinds of ills.
But what I'd really like to know........... What tells each one where to go?
Words and hearts should be handled with care - for words when spoken, and hearts when broken are the hardest things to repair.....
This completes the December newsletter. If you have suggestions or photos to fill in the blank spaces, please feel free to bring them to my sister. She'll be glad to scan them and return to you,
We are closing out the year 2011. Carol and I send Christmas blessings from our home to each of you. As always thanks for your continued interest in my monthly publication and keep those cards and letters coming.
Until next month,
Gunnard
